The authors of Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, a Maddock Films film that is being distributed by Netflix, are comparable to cunning card players who, at the crunch of their risky game, overplay their hand due to overconfidence in their skill. But, they are wise enough to keep their wits about them and pass off the odd mistake as an intentional component of a broader scheme. Most of the time, the techniques they use to deceive the audience are effective. The humorous criminal adventure, which was written by Shiraz Ahmed and Amar Kaushik and was directed by Ajay Singh, centres on a mid-air diamond robbery that is foiled by the hijacking of a plane carrying 150 people. It is not as clever as it thinks it is but is passably engaging nonetheless.

As it progresses through a storyline that becomes more and more tangled and complicated, it manages to maintain its twists and turns under tight control. A clever and slightly entertaining gambol, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga begins innocently enough with a boy and a girl meeting. During a trip from a made-up Middle Eastern city named Al-Barkat to New Delhi, flight attendant Neha Grover (Yami Gautam Dhar) meets vegan traveller Ankit Sethi (Sunny Kaushal). There is no vegan food offered by the latter on board. The accommodating flight attendant gives the man hers. Ankit, a former gems insurer with a shady history, and Neha, who is recovering from a significant personal setback, become lovers because they are both vegans.

The liaison begins to turn sinister as menacing goons, a business deal gone awry, a tragic back story and an unplanned pregnancy throw Neha and Ankit into a spiral of dangerous moves that culminate in an all-out kerfuffle. Their plane and plans are hijacked. As one thing leads to another and the two scurry for cover, the plot is littered with duds, fakes and feints and bombs, guns and diamonds. Together, all the deceit that is in the air spells big trouble for Neha and Ankit. Goons and grifters run amuck. To top it all, three armed men hijack the aircraft the lovers are on. They demand the release of a Kashmiri militant lodged in a Manali jail.
